Jonathan Edwards—God's Glory Seen in Nature

“The manifestations God makes of Himself in His works are the principle manifestations of His perfections, and the declaration and teachings of His Word are to lead to these. By God’s declaring and teaching that He is infinitely powerful and wise, the creature believes that He is powerful and wise as He teaches, but in seeing His mighty and wise works, the effects of His power abd wisdom, the creature not only hears and believes, but sees His power, and wisdom, and so of His other perfections.”
Jonathan Edwards, Miscellanies No. 777

1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
    whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world" (Psalm 19:1-4 ESV).
