White as Snow

God’s forgiveness is like a heavy snowfall. He covers over our sins with the righteousness of Christ, just as He blankets a barren landscape with snow, making it pure white and beautiful. Our sin is buried out of sight and can no more be found than the surface of the ground after a snowstorm!

Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow (Psalm 51:7).

The Aroma of Christ

It’s a little-known fact that the roses sold in the U.S. usually come from Colombia. There they are bred to be sturdy and longlasting, which is a good thing. The problem is that these genetically-refined flowers also lose their scent. Most of the roses purchased in America around Valentine’s Day are bereft of smell—a sad tradeoff for their durability.

The Beauty of Christ

There is no beauty in nature that is independent of Christ’s beauty. All the loveliness we spy in the universe is a mere reflection of God’s glory, and all beauty comes from His hand (Ecclesiastes 3:11; Ezekiel 31:9).

The Danger of Unbelief

Jesus said of our time, "Because of the increase of wickedness [lawlessness], the love of most will grow cold" (Matthew 24:12). Some might conclude that Christ is primarily referring to our relationships with one another. Certainly, this is in view. But I firmly believe that the "love" Jesus is most concerned with here is our adoration of His Father and our obedience to Himself as the King of kings.
