The Aroma of Christ

As I sat this morning, Bible in hand, enjoying the sweetness of my Lord Jesus throughout the garden He has created in my heart, a gentle cool breeze wafted its way through our living room window bringing with it a bouquet of wonderful smells from nature. As I delighted in these scents, Christ's Spirit immediately reminded me of something I had written a few years back. These smells, which God has created, are meant to be praises to His glory leading us to worship His Son. And that is precisely what they did for me at that moment!

(And just yesterday at the grocery store, I spied several large basil plants for sale. I commented to Colleen about how lovely they were. Little do most people know how rich they are with the praises of our Creator!)

Despite our sin, our Heavenly Father has chosen us—those who love Jesus—to fill the world with the greatest of all aromas. Please allow these natural scents to remind you of the worship due His name and the privilege we have in spreading everywhere a sweet aroma of Christ.

"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life." 2 Corinthians 2:14-16a
