Cactus Dodger Cicada Sings to Our Lord

This past week, I shot video of the male Cactus Dodger cicada (Cacama valvata) singing to our Creator, Jesus Christ:

Notice how the cicada raises his abdomen during his praise. This cicada's unique song can be described as a high-pitched, "buzz-saw" sound. The Cactus Dodger lives in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma and is most often associated with cholla cacti. In these videos the male Cactus Dodger is seen clinging to the dead skeleton of a Tree Cholla (Cylindropuntia imbricata). Videos were taken on the morning of June 18, 2013 in Canon City, Colorado.
