The Cactus Dodger (Cacama valvata) is a cicada that lives in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. It is most often associated with cholla cacti. This particular video is of a male Cactus Dodger clinging to the dead skeleton of a Tree Cholla (Cylindropuntia imbricata), taken on the morning of June 18 in Canon City, Colorado. Its unique song can be described as a high-pitched, "buzz-saw" sound.
